Amateur Radio Emergency Service®
(ARES / RACES)

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateur radio operators who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.

+ ARES Membership Requirements

Every licensed amateur, regardless of membership in ARRL or any other local or national organization is eligible to apply for membership in ARES. Training may be required or desired to participate fully in ARES. Please inquire at the local level for specific information. Because ARES is an Amateur Radio program, only licensed radio amateurs are eligible for membership. The possession of emergency-powered equipment is desirable, but is not a requirement for membership.

+ How To Get Involved In Racine & Kenosha Counties ARES / RACES

If you wish to join our organization, please do the following.
  1. In the top menu, click on “My Account”
  2. In the drop down box, click on “Sign Up”
  3. Fill out the form to best of your ability
  4. Click on the “Sign Up” button
Each registration submission will be individually reviewed by an actual human and as such, may take as little as five minutes or as much as a few days to process. Once your account (membership) has been activated, you will receive an email confirmation.

Once you receive confirmation that your account is active, I log into this website and verify that you are able to log in. Once logged in, you can update and customize your profile.

+ Additional Information

After your account is approved, it is recommended that new members navigate to the “Discussion Board” under the “Member Area” in the top menu. In the “Discussion Board” you will find information about what’s going on in the organization and a place to introduce yourself. At this time, there are no membership dues for membership in our organization. However, this may change at any time and this document may not reflect that change immediately.
If you are interested in dedicating your time and effort to this endeavor, we look forward to having you as part of our team!
